Highlights of the End of Season Trip

Dear Baldies,

Eleven Baldies attended the EOS trip to Kennett River on the week-end and a good time was had by all with a lot of highlights. They were…

• The Weather – fantastic (see right)
• The trip down with a quiet stop along the way at the Pacific Hotel Lorne and the Wye river Pub
• Friday Night – In the words of Franki Valli – Oh what a night!!! I peaked at 1.30am but the strains of the Bald Eagles theme song could be heard at 3am!!!
• The “Nude Up Sessions” – not a pretty sight
• The Beach walk Saturday morning with the touch footy and Wilson the cricket ball which had to be saved by me before it floated back to Tom Hanks.
• The magnificent breakfasts – thanks Beatts & Ricey the chef
• The Birds – not the female variety but the King Parrot, rosellas etc who joined in with us (see below)
• Okie getting sunburnt lying in bed that morning because he couldn’t pull the blind down
• The number of times that Bird told us that Lyn was pregnant – congratulations by the way!!
• The Cherry Ripes provided by Heathy
• Beatts falling in love with the pizza maker and the wide variety of pizzas he made including a Cherry Ripe Pizza!!
• Report of a landslide on the Great Ocean Road which turned out to be Heebie’s Dan McGrew over the edge after he called out to Juan Faggio Fletch to pull over
• The afternoon on the punt at the Ocean Hotel in Apollo Bay
• The remarkable last race Get out Stakes win by Beatts and myself to reimburse the coffers by $400 when we were down to our last penny.
• The number of high fives Beatts gave when Lady Lynette ($35 on the nose) pipped my horse ($40 a place) – they paid $6 and $4 respectively
• Okie, Heebie and Bird nuding out in the car on the way back to KR from Apollo Bay. I was thinking how to explain it to Police if we got pulled over
• The number of times  AC/DC’s “You shook me all night long”  got played on the way back from Apollo Bay
• The evening meal Saturday night at the Wye River Pub
• The robust AGM chaired by secretary Dilly
• Heebies description of the BOF incident and his Poetry of the Scrotum display
• The “earlier” night had Saturday night
• Midge Dilly and Kelly Fletch on the KR waves the next morning – Dilly fitting into my wet suit
• Hyphe and Stubbles riding their bikes to Apollo and back Sunday morning
• Okie and Bird running Grey river and back
• The magnificent brunch had before leaving

Overall, a great time had by all.

The sea-gull hitting, Brodders goal cracked a mention in Daryl Timm’s Confidential Section in the Herald-Sun this morning.
